Review: Virtual Villagers “The Secret City”

download Virtual Villagers - The Secret City! The last chapter in Virtual Villager trilogy, called “The Secret City” will see our proud villagers starting in the ruins of a once-great city, exploring, rebuilding and repopulating while unraveling its numerous mysteries.

The game mechanics, for those familiar with the previous titles, remains unchanged: it is a sort of persistent world, so when you turn off the computer and log back in, you’ll have the feeling that time has really passed. Villagers reproduce, eat, and die :)

Talking about differences instead: the weather effects are really nice now, with clouds, rain, sunbeam, fog, and such. There are also two new Factions, Nature and Magic : the former restores food more quickly and raises longevity, while the latter greatly improves scientific productivity and population cap.

Overall, a very good game, and probably the best one of the whole serie. A must have for all Virtual Villagers fan!

Review: Kudos Rock Legend

h1 Sunday, May 18th, 2008

download Kudos Rock Legend!Kudos Rock Legends is another chapter in the “Kudos” franchise. This time, rather than simulating the whole life of a man / woman 20 years old, it focuses on recreating the life and atmosphere of a Rock Band.

Yes, you read it right: you’ll have to choose the name of your band, its elements (guitarist, bass player, etc), the song titles and themes, and so on.

Then you’ll have your first live experiences in various small local pub/club, until you’ll be good enough to record your first album and sell it, and fill whole arenas of people waiting to hear your latest songs.

Even if you don’t like music in particular, this game will entertain you a lot since the backbone is a very detailed but funny life simulation, with many events (random or not) that will keep you entertained for a while.
