Chocolatier 1 & 2 are two great strategy games that focus around the “chocolate empire”.

You have to travel around the globe to find the best recipes and ingredients to create the best chocolate products! The game is built into several minigames that create a very good mix of various gameplay styles.

There’s also a trading game, where you have to travel to find the best prices for the ingredients, and also a strategy element because you’ll have to build new factories to raise your production output to become the best chocolatier of the world.

It’s definitely an interesting game into the casual market, different from the other time management games seen before.

From the setting, to the actual game, is hard not to think that My Tribe was enormously influenced by the game Virtual Villagers, reviewed some time ago.

Still, on casual games such clones are very common, so let’s see what has this game to offer despite his similarity with the LDW title.

First of all, you can build boats to explore surrounding islands, expanding the playable area. Another nice touch is that you’re rewarded if you explore the area because from time to time, a crate or barrel will appear in the ocean, or Stardust or Moondust will land on the island. Drop an islander onto these gifts to collect them.

There are more great touch like the Trophies (that are like Achievement of XboX), particular task that will be rewarded and vary from very simple thing like build a specific building, to keep an islander alive for 900+ years. The potion system is so complex and fun to play that you must try it for yourself playing the demo.

There are also some minor problems. Even My Tribe has the “persistent world” mechanic that made Virtual Villager famous. Even when you stop playing the game virtual world still run, and if you don’t check in often is easy to log into the game to find all the islanders dead

In definitive though is a very solid title, and while its main idea is the same of Virtual Villagers, it surpasses that title with some great innovations.
