Review: Virtual Villagers “The Secret City”

h1 Monday, June 2nd, 2008

The last chapter in Virtual Villager trilogy, called “The Secret City” will see our proud villagers starting in the ruins of a once-great city, exploring, rebuilding and repopulating while unraveling its numerous mysteries.

The game mechanics, for those familiar with the previous titles, remains unchanged: it is a sort of persistent world, so when you turn off the computer and log back in, you’ll have the feeling that time has really passed. Villagers reproduce, eat, and die :)

Talking about differences instead: the weather effects are really nice now, with clouds, rain, sunbeam, fog, and such. There are also two new Factions, Nature and Magic : the former restores food more quickly and raises longevity, while the latter greatly improves scientific productivity and population cap.

Overall, a very good game, and probably the best one of the whole serie. A must have for all Virtual Villagers fan!

Review: Kudos

If you ever thought about the fact that The Sims is good, but is a bit slow, that would benefit greatly by some sort of game speedup and easier interface control, think no more.

Just download Kudos and play! Yes because in Kudos you control a digital alter-ego, that can earn Kudos by accomplishing special goals. Your alter ego has a own private life, he/she works, studies, go out with friends, gets ill, and so on.

Everything is managed through a simple and clean interface, and the game is turnbased so you have time to ponderate your actions.

Overall is an excellent game that I recommend to anybody who loved The Sims but think is too slow, or in general to anyone looking for a game with more deep than the usual time-management games that the casual games portals offer nowadays.
